Vehicle categories: D1M, D1, D2 and U

The fee of the Hungarian e-vignette depends on the vehicle's fee category. For vehicles up to 3.5 t there are four categories: D1M, D1, D2 and U. A vignette bought in the wrong, cheaper category can lead to a surcharge, so check the classification before buying.
The categories

Category B2 (bus) does not appear in the 2026 e-vignette fee table. Vehicles over 3.5 t do not pay the e-vignette but the distance-based HU-GO toll.
Trailers and caravans
The trailer of a D2 vehicle needs its own category U vignette, issued for the trailer's licence plate. No separate vignette has to be bought for the trailer of a car (D1).
Motorcycles
For motorcycles, the 1-day, 10-day and monthly vignettes are available at the lower D1M fee; the annual national, annual county and regional vignettes cost the same as in category D1.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a discount for electric cars?
We are not aware of a separate e-vignette discount: an electric car pays according to the category given by its weight and number of seats.
Where is the category entered?
