How long is the Hungary vignette valid?

The validity of the Hungarian e-vignette depends on its type. The 1-day vignette is valid for one calendar day, the 10-day vignette for ten calendar days and the monthly vignette for one month; annual vignettes are valid until 31 January of the following year.

Buying in advance and the start date

With us, the 1-day, 10-day and monthly vignettes can be bought up to 20 days in advance, with a start no later than 31 December. A vignette cannot be bought retroactively: it is valid at the earliest from the moment of purchase. Annual vignettes have a fixed start, so no date has to be chosen from a calendar.

The 60-minute rule

Under Hungarian law, no surcharge may be imposed if the check took place within 60 minutes before the start of the validity of the entitlement. This helps to settle an accidental entry, but do not plan with it: buy the vignette before entering a toll section.

Frequently asked questions

Is the annual vignette valid until 31 December?

No, until 31 January of the following year. This leaves one month of overlap at the turn of the year.

When can next year's annual vignette be bought?

In December, the annual vignette for the following year is already available, valid from 1 January. When you buy, we always show from when until when the chosen vignette is valid.
