Licence plate and country code on the e-vignette
Last checked: 2 November 2026
The e-vignette is linked to the licence plate and the country code; the enforcement cameras read both. A mistyped licence plate or a wrong country code has the same effect as having no vignette, so check both before buying.
How to enter the licence plate
- Without spaces or hyphens, as shown on the plate: AB12 CDE → AB12CDE.
- Letters with accents are recorded without the accent (for example Ö → O).
- The country code is the vehicle's country of registration (UK, IRL, D …), not the destination.
A mistake: correction with the Optimum package
The Optimum package lets you request, once and free of charge within 60 days of the order being fulfilled, the correction of a mistyped licence plate (if it differs by no more than 3 characters) or a change of the destination country. To do so, write to our customer service.
Official correction rules
With the operator, a wrong licence plate differing by no more than 3 characters can be corrected for an administration fee, within 60 days of receiving the surcharge payment notice. Mixing up 0/O and 1/I is corrected free of charge. These corrections are not available for the 1-day vignette.
