Toll roads in Hungary
Last checked: 2 November 2026
In Hungary most motorways and expressways are toll roads: a valid e-vignette is needed before you enter them. The start of a toll section is marked by a road sign.
Toll roads
Tolled along their full length or for the most part are, among others, the M0, M1, M2, M3, M5, M6, M7, M15, M19, M25, M30, M31, M35, M43, M44, M51, M70, M76, M85 and M86. Since 2024 the M0 ring road around Budapest has been tolled along its full length, including the Megyeri Bridge.
Toll-free sections
Some expressway sections are toll-free, for example parts of the M9. The exact list is set out in the legislation and the operator's information; if in doubt, watch the signs before the toll section.
Where is the county vignette valid?
The county vignette is valid on the toll sections of the chosen county and beyond the county border up to the first junction. If your route crosses several counties, you need a vignette for each of them, or the national vignette is the better choice. The M1 regional vignette covers the toll network of Pest, Fejér, Komárom-Esztergom and Győr-Moson-Sopron counties.
